GARY GATTI
10 TIPS FOR BETTER TECHNIQUE PART II

Questions or Comments??? Drop me a line at Gary@guitarasylum.com

Hello again. Here is Part II of the Technique lesson. The examples are a bit long so I've decided to break the lesson into 3 parts. Remember to try all the examples in different scale fingerings and over different chord progressions.

6) Try jumping intervallicaly - Another interesting way to mix up scale patterns. In this example, I'm using Diatonic Intervals of 4ths and 5ths.

7) Know the inner workings of the scale. Within 7 note scales there are 7 Arpeggio and Pentatonic patterns [ I'll expand on this concept in future columns]. Try to see how many arpeggio and pentatonic ideas you can visualize in the line. In this example I'm using ideas from D Dorian [C Major] over a Dm11 chord.
